    Sochi 2014 Guide
    Meet your personal Sochi tour guide! This app is designed to not just keep you in the know about your favourite country, but also to provide a more interactive experience for each user. The app also lets you share results to your social feeds, including Facebook, Twitter and VKontakte.

    Sochi 2014 Results
    This app is designed specifically to keep you up to date on for stats, competition results, medal counts and athlete profiles. It also allows users to create their own coverage schedules.

    CBC Olympics
    This will be our go-to app over the following weeks. It provides everything you need to know about Canada’s participation in the Olympics from media coverage, athlete profiles, medal counts and stats. Not to mention, the events will be streamed live and is available on iPhones and iPads.

    Tourism Calgary x #StyleYYC = Tweet Dress

    You may recall the excitement surrounding our collaboration with our friends at Tourism Calgary to create the first-ever “Tweet Dress" in late 2012. This unique initiative allowed us to get creative and highlight Calgary’s world-class style and engaging fashion community. 

    Leveraging Tourism Calgary's active Twitter community, we asked, “What's in style in Calgary?” The question ignited Calgarians' enthusiasm and the conversations poured in using the hashtag #StyleYYC.

    By reaching out to Calgary’s tourism, fashion and shopping enthusiasts online, we were able to fuel the creation of a truly unique social object. It is our pleasure to share this innovative, couture dress that embodies Calgarian style with those who could not be at the unveiling in person.

    2012 has truly been one extraordinary year. Happy New Year to our friends and families, clients and colleagues of the past, present and future. We can’t wait to see what 2013 brings!

    Tourism Calgary x Paul Hardy Tweet Dress

    It’s no secret that Calgary is a city on the rise and working with Tourism Calgary has been an exciting venture for us as it provides endless opportunity to mirror our strengths and get creative

    To celebrate this stylish city, we partnered Tourism Calgary and Paul Hardy together to launch this unprecedented initiative. The Tweet Dress is a one-of-a-kind design composed of tweets sent to Calgary’s Twitter answering the question, “What’s in style in Calgary?” using the hashtag #StyleYYC. This project was launched during Hardy’s milestone event on October 20, which was attended by some of the top names in the Canadian Fashion Industry. 

    As the operators of Calgary’s social media platforms, we will be engaging users by sending out different questions via Twitter highlighting unique aspects of what is in style in Calgary, from architecture and food, to the Mayor and their sports teams. Nothing is off limits when style is this abundant in a thriving city. Throughout it all, we will be sharing updates from Paul himself as he shows us everything that goes into creating this one of a kind piece. 

    Paul will be unveiling the Tweet Dress at Calgary’s biggest private shopping event, ‘Twas the Night at The Core on November 28 and we can’t wait to see the finished product!     Before they were grandparents, they were champions.

    We first launched “Before They Were Grandparents” with our friends at Bayshore Home Health, to create an online platform where old and young could share their stories. Through dozens of photo and video submissions and a unique live storytelling event, this fresh, online initiative has grown into an exciting offline movement.

    Continuing our storytelling series, the second “Before They Were Grandparents” event focused on Vancouver’s rich history of sport. Gathering a diverse group of athletes together, many of whom are members of the BC Sports Hall of Fame, we held our event in the fitting venue of Vancouver’s Athlete’s Village. Our guests were captivated by our storytellers and, considering the accolades they hold, we felt there was no better banner for our event than, “Before they were grandparents, they were champions”.

    YAHOO Your Way To The Calgary Stampede With Travel Alberta

    How can you sum up the Calgary Stampede in one word? We can’t think of one more fitting than YAHOO! For the past 100 years, Alberta has been home to the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth, attracting thousands of people every year to the great city of Calgary. Fantastic music, deliciously unique food, and of course the rodeo, transform the Stampede Grounds into an international destination that we look forward to every year; one so exciting not even William & Kate could stay away.

    With its centennial birthday this July, we worked with Travel Alberta to create a special tribute to this classic festival - and to reward one lucky Travel Alberta Facebook fan.     Village&Co. & Union Street

    Take a look at the newly refreshed Union Street area and you’ll see fresh boutique shops, quaint cafés, a smartly placed bike shop, a bartending school and an abundance of Vancouver’s top restaurants and watering holes. And between all of these storefronts, you’ll now spot a social media agency. We’ve outgrown our office off Commercial Drive and have relocated to a new space on this eclectic strip in Strathcona

    Village&Co. & Pinterest

    It’s been called the fastest growing site on the web, and while another network actually holds that distinction, you can’t deny the massive growth and interest Pinterest has achieved in such a short time. It’s hard to argue with over 4 million users within a year of operation and 11.7 million unique monthly visitors.

    So what does Pinterest have that other networks don’t? Well for starters, it’s easy. Crazy easy. The "Pin It" bookmarklet captures images from nearly any online resource, users can upload content from their desktops, and their app allows for mobile photo uploads. Couple that with highly visual and engaging content, and it’s hard to resist the charms of this digital, social scrapbook. We’re always excited by the possibilities that come with a new social network and have been inspired by the creative uses people and brands have found for their pinboards so far. 

    The only drawback for this open network (at this moment) is the need for an invite to join the pinning party; don’t worry, they’re not too hard to come by. Whether you’re just getting started, or are a Pinterest Pro, follow our boards - we’d love to connect and share with you. 

    The Village (T-Shirt) People

    Since printing our second edition t-shirts with welcome to eastvan, the feedback online has bowled us over. From tweets, to Facebook posts, to even a few emails, we now have Village ambassadors across North America. These social fashion statements have been popping up from coast to coast at home, and with our neighbours to the south. If you want to get in on the action, visit our friends at Sharks+Hammers - they’ll hook you up; though sometimes a well placed tweet works just as well.

    And if you spot someone wearing our t-shirt on the street, say hello - you’ll be in good company.

    Village&Co. x Tourism Calgary x Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra

    When the classical music festival, “Virtuosity” swept through Calgary last month, we were inspired by the world class performances hosted. As great admirers of the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, it wasn’t a matter of “could” we contribute, but “how”. Since winter has arrived in Calgary, a warm-up just seemed like the perfect fit. Though some of us have musical backgrounds, we know our strengths lie elsewhere.

    Lately, we’re seeing tweets offline more and more. They’re on tank tops, being knitted into scarves, even Instagram photos are hopping on board. But even with all of these interpretations, we think there’s nothing quite like hearing tweets set to music.

    By using the hashtag #cpowarmup, we helped our friends at Tourism Calgary reach out to their Twitter followers and ask how they stay warm in Calgary’s notoriously frigid winters. Over a week, we collected some pretty interesting tips and gave them to the CPO Chorusmaster for scoring. Set to the unforgettable "O Fortuna", this project took a few simple tweets and turned them into an epic sing-a-long.

    With the help of CNN, our “Singing Tweets” were broadcast to homes across the United States when it was presented by Jeanne Moos on The Situation Room. Since launching it’s also been featured on DevourGizmodoNeatoramaCollege HumourGlobal TVCalgary Metro and Discovery Channel’s Daily Planet

    Now we just need to figure out how to set Reblogs to "The Ride of the Valkyries".

    Eastvan Details

    If you’re local, you already know that Gastown is a pretty hip area of town. Only in the last few years has the public profile of this neighbourhood changed from a less than desirable pocket of brick buildings and tourist attractions, to a chic, attractive retail district populated with Vancouver’s coolest shops and some of the city’s best restaurants and pubs. Our love for Gastown runs deep, so you can imagine how proud we were to see it featured in the latest issue of Details magazine. It was especially nice to see our friends at Sharks + Hammers profiled front and centre.

    We’ve spent a lot of time at Sharks + Hammers since we first collaborated on our custom Village&Co. t-shirt. When it comes to supporting and working with local businesses in our community, like Sharks + Hammers and Welcome to Eastvan, we’ve always felt it was an important part of who we are.
